European Youth Meeting 2009

Has been given a start to the European Youth Meeting which this year will be held in Bologna from 25 to 29 November. To organize it have been the Legislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna Region in collaboration with the Regional executive of Emilia-Romagna Region, the Municipality of Bologna, the Regional Scholastic Office, the European College of Parma, the Legislative Assembly Europe Direct Centre, the European Parliament Office for Italy and the European Commission  Representation to Italy.

The meeting will involve 200 young people coming from different schools of Emilia- Romagna and from 27 European countries who will speak and debate on Europe thematic.

The central theme along the whole meeting, though, will be the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the consequently integration to the European Union of the ex-soviet bloc countries.

Nevertheless, the young participants to the debate will hold different positions on the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union  issues as: dignity, equality, solidarity, citizenship and justice, in other words fundamental values shared by all the European Union member states.

The meeting represents also a valuable occasion for the teachers to meet each other and to share opinions, experiences and teaching methods on the European subjects, in this view the organization of workshops on different thematic  being organized.

Even more, the  representatives of the European Regions for Youth Network (EYR), which comprises the membership of 11 European regions will attend also the EYM.

The collateral initiatives thought for the meeting days are many and will offer the young participants, but not only, other more ideas for reflection on Europe.
